I've always been a worker - probably to the point you could add -aholic to the end. One of the reasons that I stay extra busy with M&P Marketing is that I also work part-time at FSD (Sioux Falls Regional Airport) helping good folks Fly the Friendly Skies. You will catch me in the mornings a few days a week at the United ticket counter, or making announcements and boarding PAX at the gate. I always try to keep a positive attitude and completely enjoy seeing friendly faces and meeting new people on their travels.
I get my exercise with walks upstairs to the gate and when helping customers who request assistance. My multiple trips through security and back down to the ticket counter always give me a friendly reminder of my past professional life.
For ten years I was the Director of Marketing for WR Hospitality where I was responsible for all aspects of marketing for 27 restaurants and brands. This included planning, development and implementation of all of marketing strategies, marketing communications, and public relations activities, both external and internal. I created branding from logos to campaigns, plus negotiated and bought advertising space for multiple brands.
The advertising for five of those restaurants greet me, and remind me of the talented people and vendors I created simple magic with. (Photos by Jeff Viere of http://www.imagery-photo.com/).
Next time you fly, stop by United and say hi - I'd love to hear about your adventure!
I had the pleasure of helping Mark and Kayla at Kaladi's Bistro in Sioux Falls create menus when they bought the restaurant in 2012. Mark is an old friend, as we had worked together for many years when he managed the Phillips Avenue Diner. To add an extra special twist of working with Mark again, his partners in the restaurant venture Corey and Nadia are family – Nadia is my great niece!
So looking forward to meeting with the great folks at Kaladi's soon to help rework the menus and create some marketing to promote this lovely little restaurant in the heart of our city.
Please visit Kaladi's on Minnesota and 26th Street for delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner options. It's a perfect spot for a meeting over coffee and one of their incredible pecan caramel rolls, a healthy lunch, or dinner with great beer and wine selections. See more here: http://KaladisBistro.com/
